I am a Scottish artist based in Edinburgh. I attended Edinburgh College of Art from 2004-2008 and left with a BA(Hons) degree in Drawing & Painting. Currently I am continuing my practice & exhibiting recent work.

The fragility of life on this earth, death, hope and beauty are ongoing themes that run through my work, they all congregate around the dynamic of hope and despair. The human figure and it's relationship with the space it inhabits is fundamental to my practice. Figures in my drawings and paintings are made to a loose representation, at points they are consumed by the environment and at other points they focus into clear definition. Ornate patterns taken from various sources, mainly from Victorian wallpaper prints and Japanese screen prints, have been a major influence of my art. The stencils in my work represent an ideal of beauty. There are many planes of depth in my work, the stencils float on the surface over built up layers urging the viewer to look past the bold, almost superficial stencils to see natural beauty beneath the surface. Within this concept, my recent work contains large areas of darkness reflecting despair and brokenness but within that I wish to express a tension in which hope and beauty also exist.
